According to the Midnight Sun page on Meyers' site:

June 2008 Update: In response to the outrageous number of emails that I have received with questions concerning Midnight Sun, I talked to Stephenie this weekend and she asked me to let everyone know that Midnight Sun is her next project. She has not yet finished writing it (and there is no timeline set up, so we all need to put a lot of effort into being patient for a while longer), but she is definitely still planning on having it published. And, after Breaking Dawn comes out, Stephenie will have much more time to focus on writing Midnight Sun.

I'm frustrated and disappointed with Stephenie Meyer. I mean, it's been a year since the incident, and she still has not finished the book and published it. I mean, How long can you be mad? I STILL don't see the big deal about someone stealing your draft. She shouldn't let this incident stop her from what she does best, writing....

She's letting us....her fans...down. :-/

Its actually been a long time since the incident. I really don't think she'll continue writing it, with the success of the movies she doesn't need the money or the fame, and half the book is already out so whats the point?
And btw im new to this group so i hope you dont mind if i introduce myself here.

Hi. I'm a new blabber mouth.
Ok im done. (:

I read the draft of Midnight Sun from Stephanie Meyer's web-page and was very entertained by Edward's point of view.
I read the draft of Midnight Sun from Stephanie Meyer's web-page and was very entertained by Edward's point of view. I really enjoyed seeing the story develop from Edwards perspective. It was refreshing. Inevitably, stories all must come to an ending, and I've never been so sad that a series ended as I was with the Twilight Series. I read all four books in three days. I couldn't help myself! Thank Barnes n Noble for their late hours because I would've spent night two and three tossing and turning wondering what happens next! Surprisingly, the ending was satisfying. A happy ending... but then I stumbled across Midnight Sun and now my thirst is in need of quenching...I hope Stephanie Meyers hurries up and publishes the book already.

It would be great if she finished the book and kept it.

The way people are acting "oh, get over yourself and publish it now!!!11eventyone!!!" is actually pretty creepy.

i know that it was horrible for the midnight sun partial draft to be posted illegally, but, i think i can speak for everyone when i say that those of us that have read the draft are all dying for more. i realize that it was very emotional for Stephenie, but its been on hold for how long now? if Stephenie truly cared for her fans like she said she does, then she'll finish it before it turns into a riot!

I think everyone should lay off Stephanie she is doing her best and she has every right to do whatever she likes with her stories she doesnt have a duty to the fans she first and foremost has a duty to herself and her feelings and she needs to address that before writing anything else

you would not be happy if she rushed it for ur sake because then you would all just be on here complaining about how the book seemed rushed and diddnt make sense so ease up already and give the pooor woman some space she is a pure genious...Good work Stephanie for doing such a great job inspiring peoples fantasies and restoring romance into this world and take comfort in the fact that the only reason ppl are getting so upset is because they love your work (and possibly have no patience either lol)

You have done a great job and u should be proud...take your time...and make it great you truly are an inspiration...thank you from the bottom of my newly refreshed heart

I write a bit myself and know how hard it is but I am completely losing my mind over here. I need to finish reading it, like ASAP. Please, Please finish writing if, god now's I'm going insane. I NEED TO READ THE REST, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

kk sorry, it has taken me a month to read this with my busy workload but im still replying

So...why does it have to take her almost two years to decide whether or not to finish writing a book?

I have patience. I have been waiting for almost two years now. I'm done waiting. I've moved on to more inspiring authors like Alyson Noel and PC Cast and Kristen Cast.

So...She might as well go ahead and tell us that she's not going to finish Midnight Sun and get it over with so we can all stop HOPING that she does someday.

I'm not a fan of these books, I've never read them. But my boyfriend read about this, her not wanting to publish the book because of what happened, and thought that she was being cruel to her fans (even though he's not one XD). I'm somewhat on the fence although I find myself leaning more towards agreeing with him. As someone who likes to write herself, I can imagine this happening and being infuriated. But at the same time, she has how many fans? And how many fans...or just plain jerks...were responsible for this? It's not fair to the ones who were eagerly awaiting this installment.

As far as the book goes, I was tempted to read it before I heard about all the hype and honestly...before I knew what it was about...simply because I thought the book cover was pretty. I'm such a nerd. XD

This book is so great even though she has not finish but

I did not follow Twilight until the movie came out on DVD this year. Of course I went out an purchased all of the Twilight Saga and have read all of them since. I was not aware of a new book until this week that told Edward’s side of the store. Like an idiot I read the 12 chapters that were posted on her website not realizing that the book was not going to be published. I do feel sorry for what happened to Stephenie Meyer and the first 12 chapters of Midnight Sun, but I for one will not purchase another thing that Stephenie Meyer writes if she does not finish Midnight Sun. I know that I am only one person, but if more people would boycott her books, she would realize that her fans that made her rich and famous are the same ones that can take it all away. WITHOUT FANS SHE WILL BE THE ONE THAT IS FORGOT ABOUT, not the story line.
